Steel Boxes were introduced in The Original Wonderland. They are pushable objects that are more durable than Wooden Boxes.

Steel Boxes appear as metallic dull gray boxes with square indentations on each of their six faces. Unlike their wooden version, they do not break on collision with Fireballs, and they are also the only form of box that can withstand Lava. However, being heavier than Wooden Boxes, they do not float in liquids, and two of them are required to construct a bridge over water or lava.

Steel Boxes are occasionally referred to as "metal boxes"; however, this is not official terminology.
