SpongeBob SquarePants: Krabby Quest, also shortened to Krabby Quest, is a licensed SpongeBob-themed reskin of Wonderland Secret Worlds that was released sometime in December 2005.[1]
Differences When Compared to the Wonderland Games
This section of this article is a stub. You can help WonderWiki by expanding it.
- There are only two playable characters like in Wonderland and Return to Wonderland Classic Edition - SpongeBob and Patrick, who replace Stinky and Loof.
- SpongeBob and Patrick have unique abilities as opposed to playing identically like with Stinky and Loof. SpongeBob can push beach balls without popping them, and Patrick can push Steel Boxes.
- The game has a map like Wonderland Secret Worlds. However, it is a smaller map that fits into the entire screen and cannot be scrolled around.
Availability
The game was only ever available for purchase at BigfishGames[2][3], Shockwave.com[4], WildTangent Games[5], and the now-defunct NickArcade website (which just seemed to use BigFishGames).[6]
All of these vendors have removed the game from their site for unknown reasons, thus making the game impossible to purchase anymore.
If the game was purchased on BigFishGames, the full version can still be reinstalled by finding it in the associated account's order history. It is unknown if this is possible with Shockwave.com or WildTangent.
It was removed from BigFishGames on March 29, 2019 during a batch removal of games.[7]
WonderlandPlus.NET Port
The game has been included in WonderlandPlus.NET, which is a project that aims to port the Classic Trilogy games to C# while adding new features such as widescreen, an editor test mode, and even customizing menu styles. Not only is the game fully playable, but users are able to make custom levels that use textures, music, characters, and puzzle elements from Krabby Quest. The only requirement is that the original game is installed on the user's computer.
List of Trial Download Methods
It is still possible to download a trial version of the game from a few places on the internet, however none of these methods will let you purchase the full version anymore when attempting to do so.
- BigFishGames Trial: Download Link, Alternate Download Link - Internet connection required to install trial. Will no longer work if BigFishGames shuts down in the future.
- NickArcade's Trial Provided By BigFishGames: Download Link - Can be installed offline. This trial version was also available on the NickArcade Games CD.[8]
- Shockwave.com Trial: Download Link - Can be installed offline.
- WildTangent Games Trial: Download Link - Can be installed offline. This download was found from "Primary Games", however it really is the WildTangent version of the game. This version allows you to leave the game open for as long as you like, however you can only launch it so many times before the trial expires.
Emulation
An open-sourced and moddable Unity project named KrabbyQuestEmu was created by forum user Bisquick. It has completely rewritten the game engine and allows the game to be played as long as you can provide it the original game files. Modifications
Forum member HumanGamer (formerly known as cooldudepoke) has created a modification to Krabby Quest that adds Return To Wonderland's custom level support and level editor to the game.
