Dig Dug was developed by Namco and originally released on February 20, 1982. In it, the game's protagonist, Taizo Hori (sometimes called Dig Dug), digs through dirt to take out enemies by inflating them with an air pump until they burst. There are two types of enemies: Pookas (round goggle-wearing creatures) and Fygars (dragons that sometimes breath fire). In addition to the air pump, Taizo can take out enemies by dislodging a rock and letting it fall in an open passage. Enemies can also dig through the dirt to try and eliminate Taizo. | |||
