Pong! is the third level in Retro Gaming, Wonderland-Style. It is based on the 1972 arcade game of the same name while also appearing to borrow elements from the 1976 game Breakout.
Origin and Differences
Pong was developed by Atari and was originally released on November 29, 1972. It is the first video game to gain commercial success. The game is a table tennis simulator where the player controls a paddle to try and bounce a ball past the opposing paddle. Two players can play at the same time. The game ends when someone scores 11 points.
In the version in Return to Wonderland, the paddles are represented by Steel Boxes, and the ball is a Boulder. The objective is to destroy a set of Wooden Boxes with the boulder making it similar to Breakout. This will close a set of Gates, blocking off cannon fire and allowing Stinky and Loof to exit.

Trivia
- The level's description in the Midnight Post is as follows:
Yikes, you can’t get much more Retro than Pong. A ball, two paddles, neither of which had an easy Wonderland equivalent. So we constructed a level with Stinky and Loof on opposite sides of a wall of wood, rolling a heavy stone boulder back and forth (smashing the boxes, perhaps a nod to Pong’s quasi-sequel, Breakout). Instead of Pong’s paddles, Stinky and Loof would push around steel boxes to stop the rolling ball.
