Trial By Fire is the first level in The Halls of Undermountain. The main aspect of this level is a wide hallway with Scouges alternating on both sides, all firing simultaneously. The other end of the hallway contains two rainbow coins, and a button opening gates to more coins. Once the gates are opened, Stinky needs to utilize the wooden boxes to get to the remaining coins.

Walkthrough

To walk past the alternating Scouge hallway and back, Stinky must wait against one wall of the hallway and before one tile in front of a facing Scouge, until all fire at the same time. Immediately after firing, move one tile forward so that Stinky is positioned right in front of the Scouge, and wait until the fires of the Scouge on the opposing wall pass by before getting out of the way of the faced Scouge, over to the next free space.

While there are two minutes on the timer, it is not recommended to go one space at a time. One may choose to go as far as Stinky can towards a free space against a wall, before all Scouges fire and perform the fire dodging.

Push the pink button on the other side of the map, and backtrack along the hallway back to the starting point. Both bonus coins are easy to collect, as all there is needed is timing against each of their own Scouge.

Warning: Now that the gates are open, the Scouges on the north side will break several boxes and start firing across the hallway. When backtracking through the hallway, remember to walk straight an extra space away from the Scouge line (The window of succession will be slightly shorter from here).

Cyan is the recommended path to push the box through. Red is not.

To obtain the remaining rainbow coins on the far north end after getting back to the starting point to the open gates, push a box along one of the hallways occupied by Scouge fire. It is highly recommended to use the passages on either far east or west sides of the map, as there is less wall cover to get out of Scouge range (See picture). Collect the coins and run back for each corner before going to the exit.
