Crossing the Moat is the first level of The Water Palace. It is a near-symmetric level that introduces bridges, which can only be walked on once before they break. There are also Scouges and a few boxes, the latter of which are required to collect all of the rainbow coins.
Walkthrough
It does not matter which path can be chosen to collect coins from after entering from the first passage of bridges, but for the bonus coin route, one must start from the left path.
While avoiding the Scouges, collect the coins after walking across the bridges. The outer Scouges will only pose a hazard if the upper bonus coins within the moat have been collected.
Cross either side of the longer bridges to get past the moat. If doing the bonus coin route, you should be at the west side of it. Push the box along the western wall south to form a bridge and get the three bonus coins in the corner. Crossing the bridge before push the box in the water next to it will result in having to start over.
After crossing the moat, collect the rainbow coins from beyond the moat. There are also two hidden bonus coins behind pillars which you can collect too. Next, build a bridge spanning three boxes using the ones in the center of the level. Make sure you push them properly and form them in a straight line. Cross the other path you did not choose before at the start.
Important for the bonus coins: Do not proceed to collect the rainbow coin on said other path. Instead, go around to the other intact bridge (which should be on the right side) to push the last box out of the way and straight into water. You should have the last three bonus coins collected after another bridge has been built.
Collect the remaining coins and go to the exit beyond the moat.
Trivia
Crossing the Moat is the only level in The Water Palace that displays a "Walls" background.
