Take the Long Way Home is the second level in Desert Cities. It features slightly difficult bridge building while dealing with Kaboom!s and boxing a few of them in.

Walkthrough

The main challenge of this level is to reach and collect the coins in the northeast area of the level, patrolled around by a Kaboom!. One must box in the other Kaboom!s to acquire more boxes and build a bridge towards said room.

  • First, build a bridge somewhere along the water river north of Stinky to have a Kaboom! enter Stinky's starting section.
  • While avoiding the Kaboom!, use one of the three newly available boxes to make an appropriate one-box bridge on the water ravine next to Stinky's starting point. This ensures to move and place another box to trap the Kaboom! with in the east passage.
  • Use a second box of the available three to box in the first Kaboom! and clear the east passage from the starting section.
  • Push both available boxes of the eastern room onto the water tiles as you collect coins. The target water tiles for building bridges are each one tile north and south of the southmost rainbow coin.
  • Box in the second Kaboom! patrolling the six more boxes by pushing both boxes at both ends of the batch to trap it. Three more boxes should be available to use.
  • Use all four currently available boxes to build a bridge along the northern wall. You should be building along a water passage leading into the northeast room. The water tile one east of the rainbow coin space in the second section should NOT be filled.
  • Once the northeast room has been reached, carefully push one of the boxes north one space so that the Kaboom! follows along the boxes and the coins at the same time. Collect the coins as the Kaboom! goes along the boxes to open the exit gate.
  • bonus coins: At any time the southeast room is accessible. The northmost bonus coin is all it takes for the Scouge fire to release. Wait until the fire hits that coin before collecting it and running out of the passage.
